BACKGROUNDChris was born in (FFXIV China) to educated parents. They left their home country when he was very young and came to Eorzea by sea, settling in Limsa Lominsa and making ends meet by farming. Chris was given an Eorzean name to let him assimilate with the locals, and sent to study in the Arcanists' Guild so that he could get a better job. His natural intellect allowed him to grasp the art quickly, and he became skilled in the use of arcanima. He met Alka Zolka and helped him discover the lost tactics of Nym during his apprenticeship, eventually becoming a Scholar after tutoring by the Tonberry Surito Carito. His newfound healing magic caught the attention of Y'shtola, and he was chosen by Hydaelyn as her champion. Thus began his journey as the Warrior of Light. He used his skills as a Scholar to support the Scions in their battle against the primals and the Garlean Empire. His parents were proud of his adventurous accomplishments, but kept a low profile so as to not endanger their son with excess worries. Chris fled to Ishgard after being framed for Nanamo's death. It was then that he realised his magic alone wasn't enough to save anyone. He fell into a deep despair, but resolved himself to pick up physical combat skills so that he could fight more offensively and protect his friends. He trained under the Ishgardian knights and Haurchefant to learn the way of the blade, using aether to augment his weapon to make up for his inferior strength. Eventually, he returned to Eorzea with his name cleared and bearing the additional laurels of ending the Dragonsong War. He returned to magic as his preferred weapon during the liberation of Ala Mhigo and his travels in the Far East, using his innate aetheric flexibility to channel devastating Summoner magic. He spent time with the Beast Tribes to learn their lore and employ the primal egis in a more respectful manner as a Summoner. He got into many fights with Zenos whom he came to detest as an annoying cockroach. Chris picked up the blade again while in Norvrandt, as the stagnant aether of the First somewhat restricted his magical ability. He had to absorb the light of the Lightwardens as they were vanquished, and it had severe effects on his body, changing his hair and eye colour permanently. The Light also dyed his Demi-Bahamut gold, leading to it being nicknamed the ‘Wyrm of Light’ to distinguish it from the original Bahamut and the primal incarnation responsible for the Seventh Umbral Calamity. He focused more on his healing skills during Endwalker so that he could help more people who were hurt by the Telophoroi. While he still retained his acuity of Summoning magic, using it would cause too much collateral damage and thus he relied on the Scions to help when civilians were involved. He picked up the Sage profession on arrival at Sharlayan where he impressed a Forum member with his healing knowledge. Meeting Hythlodaeus and Emet-Selch in Elpis reawakened some of his Ancient self’s memories, and he learned how to transform as the ancients do by fusing with Bahamut. While definitely weaker than the Ancients’ transformations, the combined form gave him flight capabilities and he was no longer restricted to ground combat. However, it taxes him greatly and can only be used sparingly unless an external aether source is used. PERSONALITYSour, blunt, and capable of dishing out great snark, it’s generally a surprise when people find out that Chris is the Warrior of Light. Despite his prickly attitude, it’s not hard to see that he truly does care for those around him, not mincing words and getting straight into the action should it be necessary. He’s willing to take up arms for those that cannot fight, but he knows that he will never stay in one place long enough to protect it for more than a few months, so he remains somewhat detached from everything around him. He doesn’t do work for free - if you can afford to pay him, then he will expect you to and will not lift a finger if you are trying to offload your responsibilities onto him. Chris gets his sharp reputation by saying what he thinks should be said. This includes uncomfortable truths, thus he can hurt others’ feelings if he points out something that they’re trying to deny. He doesn’t really care about that though: he figures that if they don’t want to understand his point, then there’s no reason he should spend time on pointless arguments. It’s easy to be acknowledged by him as an ally, but it takes a lot of effort for him to accept a stranger as a friend. After many incidents where his status as the Warrior of Light was abused, he no longer trusts strangers who try to get on his good side. It’s not impossible to befriend him, though. It just takes time, and demonstrating what you believe in. He likes to be in quiet places, preferably surrounded by nature or camping in the untamed wilds. He is very persistent when it comes to his work, whether in research, fighting Ascians, or going on a fishing trip into the wilderness, so a sign of genuine friendship would be him taking time out of his schedule to give you his attention. Chris is kind to children, especially those with pure hearts, and it's rather obvious how his attitude changes around them as opposed to when he's surrounded by adults. He's willing to teach them and try to impart to them the importance of respect and compassion, as they will inherit the world eventually, and he believes that the future should be a gentler place. At the end of the day, Chris wishes for all to live without fear for their lives and in harmony with each other. He continues his journey as the Warrior of Light because he can't bear to leave people suffering if he can do something about it without endangering himself. Because he doesn't easily confide in others, he keeps all his stress to himself, which has come close to crippling him several times in his adventures. However, he manages to claw his way back one way or another, perhaps another testimony to his tenacity or that he's just too stubborn and salty to die. ABILITIESChris has great aetheric flexibility, even before his appointment as the Warrior of Light. He is very aware of the state of his own body and mana reserves, able to optimise the flow of aether for stronger spells. This contributed to his prowess as a Summoner. Because of this, he was also greatly hampered by the light he absorbed during Shadowbringers, and would have died if not for Ardbert's intervention. His chronic reliance on strong magic has also left circuit pattern scars on his body. He used to hide them, but eventually accepted their presence and leaves them visible. He is able to heal as a Scholar or a Sage. As he studied the healing arts for a long time, he is able to regenerate his body using aether quickly, significantly prolonging his ability to fight. However, using this technique will place him in great pain. After repeatedly accelerating his healing during many primal fights, he's grown used to it and has a high pain tolerance. While he learned how to use a sword and shield in Ishgard during Heavensward, he is not officially a paladin and the sword is employed when he is unable or unwilling to use magic. If he needs to tank, he will instead invoke Titan and use its stance. Chris is very frugal and able to repair things on the fly, useful for an adventurer who is always on the move. Due to various poisoning incidents, he will only eat food that is prepared by himself or by someone he trusts. He enjoys fishing and sewing. Due to the Blessing of Light and his own aetheric malleability, Chris is able to glimpse into a primal’s mind using the aether that said primal discharges into its surroundings. He was able to discern the fervent pleas that bring each primal to life and the emotions that went into the summoning. As a result he has grown cynical of the spoken races’ treatment of beastmen, and the mental stress of reliving their prayers contributed to his salty attitude. Conversely, he is skilled in summoner magic, and is able to develop summons into stances. He has since visited many beast tribes to learn about their culture as well as the primal they worship. In the earlier days of his adventure, he would often change stances based on what was necessary. After the Scions started travelling with him, he settled into his role as a dual DPS/healer focusing on the Bahamut summon. As Bahamut has a high risk of friendly fire, he will not use it in more populated areas. After travelling to Elpis, he regained his ability to transform like his pre-sundering self, using Bahamut as a catalyst. ANCIENT![]() Ancient name: Prometheus It was a little-known fact that the individual holding the title of Azem was in fact two siblings. Both Prometheus and Eurybia were equally suited for the role, and Venat appointed one of them to be the official Fourteenth Seat while the other voluntarily supported their work from the shadows. The hood and mask of the Ancients made it almost impossible to distinguish the two, and they undertook their duties with great success. The only people able to tell the difference were Hythlodaeus and Hades (by virtue of soul sight) and Venat. Prometheus and Eurybia lost their parents soon after they were born. They were raised by a group of colleagues and sent to school as soon as they were able to understand the teaching material. Prometheus was blessed with a great aether reserve and discovered his aptitude for magic in the academy, particularly conflagration and other unmaking spells. No matter how hard he tried, he was unable to use healing or protective magic of any sort. Believing that he was destined only to destroy, he wandered aimlessly across Etheirys. He grew to appreciate the world and found a new purpose in aiding the people he met. He could often be seen in simple robes, carrying only a plain sword while travelling. He does not dislike fighting, but his true strength lies in unbridled destruction, and he often uses his sword instead to avoid unnecessary casualties. It was impossible to sway his decision once he had made up his mind about something, and he often took unusual perspectives to preserve unique cultures or creations. His inability to heal was remediated by the skills of his companions as well as the prowess of his sister. Eurybia belongs to ![]() When the Final Days came to Etheirys, he could finally use his magic without holding back as he refused to harm anything undeserving of total obliteration. He slayed many beasts of despair in Amaurot and surrounding areas, buying time for the ancients to regroup and later summon Zodiark as well as Hydaelyn. He was then sundered by Hydaelyn and his soul set adrift on the aetherial sea for the next six thousand years until he was reincarnated into the Allagan Empire. Astram was a gifted aetherochemical engineer who was active during the twilight years of Allag. He was one of the key scientists who spearheaded the development of anti-eikon weaponry and fashioned the neurolinks which would later bind the primal Bahamut into Dalamud. However, his illustrious and somewhat callous career came to an abrupt end after the incarceration of Bahamut. During a contact experiment with the primal, his latent Echo awakened and subjected him to Bahamut’s memories. The experience left him a shaken and changed man. While he did not stop his work on Dalamud, he took his own life soon after it began active operations and vanished from history. Five thousand years later, an adventurer would come face to face with the Dreadwyrm at the Carteneau Flats, and eventually set free what was chained by his past self long ago.
